The Program Officer of the Texas Opportunity & Justice Incubator (TOJI) program is responsible for implementing and managing the day-to-day activities of the TOJI program, a legal incubator program for recently-licensed lawyers to develop innovative, socially conscious law practices providing affordable legal services to low- and modest-income clients. The position involves contact with volunteer lawyers, judges, law school professors, and deans, as well as frequent contact with State Bar departments, committees, members, and the public. Reports directly to the Director of the Texas Opportunity & Justice Incubator program.
JD required. License to practice law in Texas preferred. A minimum of 3 years of legal experience required, preferably in a solo, small firm, or legal services environment. Experience in law office management and knowledge of modern law office technology preferred. Must be able to write clearly and have excellent communication skills, diplomacy, and discretion. Must have ability to positively influence others’ behavior without direct authority. Should be able to work independently under deadline pressure and effectively manage multiple competing priorities. Occasional travel required.
