General Description

This position provides project coordination for the State Bar’s Legal Access Division and the Texas Access to Justice Commission to increase awareness of access to justice issues for low-income Texans.  Responsible for assisting with communication materials, including content for website, social media, e-newsletters, fundraising appeals, presentations, and other materials as needed. Responsible for graphics and visual presence of various initiatives and campaigns. Assists with the coordination of large conferences and events. Involves frequent contact with State Bar departments, committees, volunteers, and the public.  This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. 

Primary Functions

  1. Facilitates State Bar and Commission communication efforts regarding access to justice issues, including content development for publications, presentations, and fundraising efforts.
  2. Develops content and handles coordination of social media to increase awareness of State Bar and Commission access to justice initiatives.
  3. Facilitates development and fundraising efforts of the Commission to increase resources for civil legal aid, including the Justice for All ATJ Contribution Campaign and the Veterans Gala.
  4. Creates State Bar and Commission print materials for events, publications, and other efforts.
  5. Reviews and revises the Commission’s website to increase accessibility of information to lawyers and the public. Works with an external contractor to develop and execute periodic website redesigns.
  6. Assists with curriculum development for conferences and training events, including the Bar Leaders Conference and the Guide to Ethics presentation, and coordinates logistics and support for those events.
  7. Interfaces with the public via phone and email and responds appropriately.
  8. Handles meeting logistics for State Bar and Commission-related committees.
  9. Assists with the SBOT statewide and national disaster relief efforts.
  10. Creates design and layout of e-newsletter/blog of the State Bar and Commission as needed.
  11. Handles staff travel arrangements and performs other responsibilities as required.

Position Requirements

College degree preferred. Requires at least two years related work experience. Must be able to handle multiple projects with a high level of performance, attention to detail, and accuracy. Requires exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills. Requires proficiency with creative suite software, online publication platforms, social media, MS Office, database software, and project management software. Must communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable.  Prior experience with legal aid organizations or a nonprofit is desirable. A skills test on Photoshop and a skills test to edit text for publication are required. A writing sample in plain language of no more than 1,000 words written at a 9th grade reading level is also required.
