This position provides project coordination for the State Bar’s Legal Access Department (LAD) to support increasing access to justice for low-income Texans. The position assists with the coordination of large conferences, events, and meetings. Responsibilities include coordinating projects, program planning and development, communications, and supporting initiatives that expand access to justice and pro bono services across Texas. Involves frequent contact with State Bar departments, committees, volunteers, and the public.
1. Assists with curriculum development and coordinates logistics for conferences and training events, including the Poverty Law Conference and other important programs and events.
2. Facilitates LAD communication and administrative support regarding activities, programs, and events.
3. Assists with administrative support for the LAD Director, and as directed, for legal aid and pro bono attorneys, including the Language Access Fund and malpractice insurance.
4. Facilitates committee and stakeholder meetings as directed.
5. Handles meeting logistics for LAD-related committees.
6. Facilitates development and fundraising efforts of LAD as directed.
7. Interfaces with the public via phone and email.
8. Handles staff and volunteer travel arrangements.
9. Performs other responsibilities as needed.
College degree preferred. Requires at least two years’ related work experience. Must be able to handle multiple projects with a high level of performance, attention to detail, and accuracy. Requires exceptional communication and organizational skills. Requires proficiency with creative suite software, online publication platforms, social media, MS Office, database software, and project management software. Must communicate effectively and maintain confidentiality. Ability to speak Spanish is desirable. Prior experience with legal aid organizations or a nonprofit is desirable.
