General Description

Reports to the IT Director under moderate supervision, coordinates and manages enterprise virtual server and desktop infrastructure as well as basic network and enterprise mail support. Assists with backup and security platform environments. The network infrastructure supports a multiple platform computing environment and multiple networking protocols. Server and security environment encompasses Microsoft Windows and VMware Virtual server platforms. Consults with department director and network architect regarding configuration and designs for virtual server, desktop hardware, and other IT asset replacements. Coordinates and tracks asset acquisitions, installations, and expirations. Assists with design and maintenance of Active Directory and server environment, including the planning of upgrades and modifications. Performs help desk support functions to resolve staff issues relating to desktop computers, software, network, applications, printing, system access, etc.

Primary Functions

  1. Assists in the design, management, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise virtual server environment.
  2. Assists in the design, management, monitoring, and maintenance of enterprise network, backup, and recovery infrastructure.
  3. Designs, manages, monitors, and maintains enterprise desktop infrastructure and imaging.
  4. Configure and customize security for enterprise cloud environment.
  5. Consults with departments to design/provide desktop hardware, software, or other peripherals.
  6. Assists in changes to network, security, backup platforms.
  7. Applies security patches, upgrades, and other modifications to server/desktop platform environment.
  8. Troubleshoots network, server, security, and backup problems and performs corrective procedures.
  9. Develops documentation procedures for server, network, security, and backup operations.
  10. Performs support functions to assist staff members in resolutions of related IT issues.
  11. Coordinates IT asset replacements and expirations.
  12. Serves as technical lead on assigned projects.
  13. Performs other responsibilities as required.

Position Requirements

Minimum of three years of experience in providing networking, server, backup, and security technical services. Requires experience and skill proficiency in the following areas: Strong knowledge of networking concepts; the configuration, administration and support of Windows and VMware including specific design experience with Active Directory, vSphere/vCenter and ESX clusters; Experience with maintaining and configuring the full suite of Microsoft 365 administrative tools for large organizations; Experience with desktop imaging and management products as well as Windows SCCM required; Experience with MS Exchange administration; telephony and VOIP experience with cloud PBX a plus.
